Imperial sakura, a set on Flickr.More than one year has passed, but as the spring approaches, the Japanese cherry trees are always ready to bloom and to astonish.
“somei yoshino” is the most common (and admired) variety: it creates grape-like of blooming flowers, candid white with a shade of pink. There is a huge contrast between such color and the bark of the branches and trunk. dark, thick, unwelcoming.
But the flowers tell a different story, for that limited period of time in which they bloom, astonishing, perishable, beautiful. After roughly one week of full bloom they soon start to fade, dispersing white petals all around the streets, leaving the former tree anonymous, with thick green leaves oblivious of that caducous magic.
